A Touch of Luxury from Northcroft Fabrics
A leading specialist in the design and production of luxury fabrics for interior decoration, Northcroft Fabrics has held a prominent position in the industry since its establishment in 1991. Its exclusive collection of classic velvets, damasks and silks are renowned and the company’s impressive portfolio of clients includes the Goring Hotel in London, the Savoy Grill and Gordon Ramsay’s York and Albany Restaurant.
According to Director John Kitching, fine fabrics are making their way back in trend; more interiors are being decorated using classic fabrics such as velvets, silks and damasks due to their ability to add a touch of elegance to an interior, along with their hard wearing and fire retardant properties. “We have, introduced two new velvets to our growing collection this year, due to a high demand for the fabric,” explains John. “York is a heavy cotton velvet with a beautiful soil and crush resist finish, while Oxford is a wool cashmere velvet, giving it a hard wearing yet luxurious feel. Both fabrics are suitable for upholstery and drapes, and complement an array of interiors and budgets. This is the beauty of velvet; it can instantly add a dash of opulence to most interiors and lasts a long time.”
Northcroft Fabrics also offers a wide selection of damasks from different time periods, woven in various fibres, covering a range of interior styles and budgets. Silk damasks (such as Medici) range from 15th Century Italian designs through to Chinoiserie styles (Nanking and Beijing) and 19th Century arts and crafts designs, making them extremely versatile. Cotton and modacrylic fibre designs, such as the Limoges and Stamford collections, come with fire retardency, making them ideal for more heavy use. Lincoln, on the other hand, is a gorgeous floral damask featuring a jacquard design, combining an enviably soft texture with impressive scale.
